Q1: What is the difference between human hair and synthetic hair?
A: Human hair wigs are more durable, softer, and have a more natural feel. They can be styled and colored just like your own hair and allow for better breathability, so the scalp underneath doesn't sweat excessively. However, human hair wigs require styling after each wash and tend to be more expensive due to limited supply. Synthetic hair wigs are easy to care for, don't require restyling after washing, and are more affordable compared to human hair wigs. However, they cannot withstand high heat, which means they cannot be styled with hot tools, and their lifespan may be shortened if worn daily.
Q2: What are the different types of wig caps?
A: Capless wigs are one of the most common types of wigs. The base of any wig is called the cap. Hair is attached to the wig cap using various techniques to create different styles. Most wigs have hair attached in "wefts," which are folded and sewn tightly together strips of hair.
Monofilament caps are made of a sheer, almost transparent material, with each individual hair hand-tied onto it. This type of wig is easier to style, allows for scalp ventilation, and prevents heat and moisture buildup. The thin cap material is difficult to detect, resulting in a natural appearance. Monofilament wigs are designed for individuals with thinning hair or sensitive skin.
Lace front wigs feature a mesh lace piece at the front hairline of the wig, with each hair strand individually attached to it. These can be temporarily glued to the skin around the hairline, making the wig cap nearly invisible. The lace piece allows for a natural-looking hairline that can be worn for a week, even during activities such as swimming or exercising. All lace front wigs require regular maintenance and can last for six months or longer.
There are two types of lace front wigs:
Full lace wigs: These have lace material all around, allowing for parting the hair anywhere on the scalp for breathability and comfort.
Lace front wigs: These only have lace material on the forehead, offering a more natural look without drawing attention. Unfortunately, these wigs cannot be pulled back into a ponytail.
Q3: How do you wear a wig?
A: After unpacking the wig, remove any protective hairnet (if included) and shake it gently to loosen the hair. If it's a ready-to-wear synthetic wig, you can proceed! If any adjustments are needed (such as trimming the lace front), we recommend consulting a hairstylist.
If you have a lot of your own hair, the first step is to gather it back and up. A great trick is to divide the hair on both sides of the head into two sections. Twist the hair as you pull it back and wrap it around the head, securing it flat in the end. This technique helps prevent bulges from ponytails. You can use bobby pins, braids, and a wig cap (recommended). Even without hair, a wig cap helps secure the wig in place. Hold the wig by its sides, starting from the front, and place it along the natural hairline. Push it back towards the nape of the neck. The adjustable straps at the back of the neck can help achieve a more secure fit. When dealing with lace front wigs, be careful not to tug on the delicate lace. If it doesn't look perfect, don't worry, you can begin styling it.
Q4: How do you style a wig?
A: Style the wig easily using your fingertips or a wig brush. Place the wig on a flat surface and allow it to air dry naturally on a towel. Our wig designs prioritize ease of use and styling as one of the most important features. Lift the hair gently with a brush to achieve the desired volume. To create a flatter appearance, you can style the wig closer to the head. If you need more body, gently backcomb the hair and then smooth the surface with a comb. To restore your wig to its original style, simply thoroughly brush, clean, and allow it to air dry.
Q5: Are the color samples 100% accurate?
A: The hair color images provided are intended to give you a visual representation of the color options for each product. However, it's important to note that due to variations in monitor calibration, the colors displayed on screens may not accurately reflect the actual colors. Additionally, the computer or device you are using can also affect how colors are displayed.
Q6: Can this wig be dyed or straightened?
A: Yes, human hair wigs can be dyed or styled just like your own hair. They can be straightened and restyled. We recommend using a temperature of 150°C, as higher temperatures can even damage human hair. Gradually increase the temperature and perform a strand test first. Allow the flat iron/curling iron to stay on the hair for 3-5 seconds.
Q7: How can I prevent the hair from tangling?
A: Develop the habit of combing your hair from the bottom up and gently use your fingers to detangle the hair. If you have fine or thin hair, use volumizing shampoo. Generally, fine and thin hair is more prone to tangling, so using a volumizing shampoo that adds body to the hair can minimize the chances of tangling.
Q8: How long can I expect this wig to last, and can I wear it for swimming or sports?
A: Typically, wigs can last for one year or longer. Lace front wigs should last for three to six months, depending on how frequently you wear them and how you care for them. We do not recommend exposing the wig to water. It puts too much stress on the hair and can lead to uncontrollable tangling. Pool chemicals and salt can also damage the hair and affect the color.
